Aberdeen Love- Lovestruck Portraits

Niki & Brodie's Wedding was awesome. And a perfect wedding to share with you all on Valentines day!! The morning started out with getting ready. Of course capturing all the little details. Niki was a little sad that morning, one of her bridesmaids was sick and She wasn't sure if she was going to be able to make it to the wedding. I was able to capture a special moment they shared over facetime. Niki was so sad, but her friend was going to surprise her anyway by coming to the ceremony and keeping her distance.

We started out photos with a first look. Brodie and Niki both cried when they saw each other. They exchanged sweet words to each other then and we were off for photos. I took them to one of my favorite park, President Murray. The tall pines always have the best light no matter the time of day. The wedding party was up for some fun, games and even playing with the veil.

They also did something that in all my 16 years of shooting I have never come across, they signed their wedding register in the limo in-between photos!! One of the bridesmaids was legally able to marry them, so they privately signed their marriage license in the limo. I LOVED IT!!! They shared a quick drink together and were off to take more photos at the UofS. We headed to my favorite arches to provide some cover from the summer heat. Then it was off to Aberdeen to the grain elevator. I love including elevators in photos as there aren't very many left any more and they were such a staple in Sask. They popped some bubbly, had a few romantic moments before their daughters came to have a first look with them before the ceremony. Oh there were tears and beautiful moments of them seeing mommy and daddy all dressed up, and their two perfect flower girls. It was a wonderful moment that i wish more couples with kids would have.

The ceremony was beautiful surrounded by their family and friends. Her bridesmaid who was sick was also there, watching from the back. She came up and distance joined Niki for a photo. As we headed into the reception, and dance, the evening was filled with beautiful heartfelt speeches, and dancing the night away!!!

How did you and your fiancé meet?

I used to work at Camp Easter Seal and spent 6 summers in Manitou Beach. Every week my friends and I would go to Mike's Beach Bar the night before camp started and enjoy some well deserved time off. Brodie was a local who recognized me from the summer before and came to introduce himself. After a blast of a summer our romance came to and end for the first time as I went back to Regina and he worked in northern BC.

How long have you been together for? We met in 2009 and tried long distance on and off for a few years before I decided to take the plunge and move to Saskatoon. It has been 9 years since then!

Where is your favorite place to go on a date night? Our last super fun date night was actually the Stoked Center. Amazing food and drinks and the arcade was a blast. Next time we would add in some bowling or go kart races!

What is your favorite thing about each other? Brodie has the best sense of humor and is also the kindest man I have ever met.

Brodie says his favourite thing about me is the way I care about everyone and how good of a mom I am to our girls.

How did your Fiancé pop the question?

On our first date we drove through the backroads and had a picnic in the bed of his truck under the stars.

When he proposed we took another backroad drive. He had a Playlist of all of our favourite songs and we stopped at the bridge we stargazed at 11 years earlier. When we got out of the vehicle he got down on one knee and popped the question.

What was your favorite part of your wedding day?

Seeing everyone all together. Having most of our friends and family all in place was just the most special feeling in the world.

Did you go on a honeymoon? We left 2 days after our wedding and spent 2 weeks touring around Europe. It is a trip we had been dreaming of for almost 10 years. We had such an amazing time seeing all of our must see spots in 5 different countries. Not much relaxing but enjoyed every minute of our time just the 2 of us.

How did you feel on your wedding day?

Overwhelmed and so thankful for all of the love being sent our way. It was so surreal seeing so many of our friends and family together in one place celebrating our love.

We had so much fun visiting with everyone.

Any advice for fellow brides out there? Don't forget to drink water and eat! I was so busy trying to say hello to everyone and visit that I didn't even get a chance to eat our supper that I was told was delicious!

Nothing was worse than getting a headache during the reception because I hadn't been eating or drinking any water.
