Falling in love with you

Planning your wedding on thanksgiving weekend is brilliant. Being surrounded by the ones you love, sharing a meal and dancing the night away is magic.

This wedding was absolutely stunning!! The couple got ready at the Sheraton hotel downtown Saskatoon. Cheryl got ready in one of my favourite rooms in the hotel. Large windows allow for beautiful natural light, the bedroom on the second floor and don‘t forget that beautiful spiral staircase. We we’re blessed with an amazing fall day.

Cheryl and David traveled from out east to Saskatoon for their wedding. They we’re so relieved they came to the city earlier that week. The day before their wedding a huge snow storm hit eastern Canada, closing down the highways. Talk about a huge blessing.

Their ceremony was held at St. Paul’s Lutheran church on Taylor street. This church is amazing, beautiful leading lines, old wood pews and a balcony to take great photos from. The ceremony was short and sweet, and almost every family member teared up at one point.

Fall weddings are perfect if you want beautiful warm sunset photos.

When I had met with Cheryl to book her wedding, she expressed she would love to take family photos the day before their wedding. This was such a great idea as they got a mix of casual and formal family pictures. Plus I got to know everyone before hand which made the wedding day feel like I was just hanging out with family. October can be a challenging month when it comes to fall photos. You still want to capture the golden leaves, but sometimes they are all gone. I spent a few days before hunting down any parks I could find that had leaves on the trees. Luckily I found one only a few blocks away from the church. We captured a bunch of fun wedding party photos their before we headed over to the UofS to capture some of the prettiest arches in the city.

We finished up photos down by the Delta and the bridges. The sunlight was warm and sun was slowly going down. I took the two of them right down to the water to capture the bridge in all it’s glory. The launch is a perfect spot, it’s quiet, full of trees and the water is right there. They just spent the last few mins soaking each other in, listening to the water and capture some really authentic images.
