There is nothing quite like the excitement of a wedding day, but Darlene and Marcello’s celebration had an extra layer of magic. These two worked together 20 years ago and maintained a beautiful friendship through all of life’s twists and turns. Documenting their journey as their Airdrie wedding photographer was a true highlight of my season.

I first met this wonderful couple at the Circle Bridal Show. Darlene is truly one of the kindest souls I’ve ever met, and her love for Marcello and her five grandchildren is the heartbeat of everything she does. Getting to capture those family connections through my lens was such a joy.

Elegance and "Bling" at 525 Restaurant & Patio

The couple chose 525 Restaurant & Patio in Airdrie for its seamless blend of ceremony and reception space. Darlene’s vision for the day was all about "elegant bling." The tables were transformed with stunning chair covers and sashes, creating a look that was sophisticated, fun, and perfectly "them."

As a Calgary area wedding photographer, I love venues like 525 because of the versatility. While the interior offered that "elegant bling" Darlene dreamed of, the patio provided a relaxed space for guests to enjoy refreshments and hors d'oeuvres while we captured their wedding portraits.

A Day Built on Friendship

From the incredible beef and chicken dinner to the heartfelt moments with their family and friends, the day was the definition of "beautiful, elegant, and fun."

The most special part of the day to photograph? The way Marcello looks at Darlene. After 20 years of friendship, that "wedding day excitement" was written all over their faces. Darlene's smile and joyful laughter made the day just fly by. It was an honor to be there to freeze those moments in time for them and their grandchildren to look back on forever.

What inspired your wedding decor? "I really wanted the elegant look with some beautiful 'bling.' I’m so excited about the decor for the tables—it is elegant, fun, and pretty!"

What are you looking forward to the most? "I am so looking forward to spending our special day with the people we love the most, our family and friends."

The Love Story: "Marcello and I worked together 20 years ago. We have maintained a friendship all of these years... The most important things in my life are Marcello and my family."
