There is something undeniable about the connection between Sarah and Nic. After seven years together, they move with an ease and a presence that is truly rare. When we headed up to Big Horn Lookout for their engagement session, the views were breathtaking, but it was the way these two look at each other that really stole the show.

From a "Bumble" Match to a Shared Journey
Sarah and Nic’s story began nearly seven years ago on Bumble. Since then, they’ve built a life filled with cozy nights in, homemade dinners by Nic, and snuggles with their tuxedo cat, Tito.
One of the most unique parts of their story? They both live with Type One Diabetes. Diagnosed as young children, they never imagined they’d find a partner who truly understands that specific walk of life. It’s a small detail that speaks to the deep, unspoken understanding they share.
A Kananaskis Question
The proposal was as intentional and serene as they are. While camping at their favorite spot, Bow Valley Campground, they set up their site and headed for a sunny Friday walk along the river.
"Nic proposed there beside the river with the mountains in the background. It was the perfect proposal. We spent the rest of the weekend just celebrating the two of us before we got home and shared the news. It was lovely to have that time to soak it in." — Sarah
The Session: Carefree & Stunning
Shooting at Big Horn Lookout can be dramatic, but Sarah and Nic kept it feeling intimate. Sarah mentioned that her favorite thing about Nic is how calm and present he is, while Nic loves how passionate Sarah is about everything she does. That balance was so evident during our shoot—they were genuinely having fun, feeling carefree, and just enjoying the mountain air.
Wedding Wisdom: Breaking Tradition
As they look forward to their wedding day—specifically sharing their vows and finally getting to the party—Sarah has some refreshing advice for other couples: You don’t have to have a wedding party.
To keep the morning stress-free and focus on family, they’ve chosen to forego a formal bridal party. Instead, they’re getting creative:
Nic’s best friend is officiating the ceremony.
Sarah is doing a private "first look" with her closest girlfriends.
They’re still celebrating with bachelor and bachelorette nights!
It’s a beautiful reminder that your wedding day should be a reflection of your own peace and priorities.
