Love in the boreal forest

Writer: Chelsea PagéChelsea Pagé

Prince Albert is one of my favorite places to capture weddings. It's so unique, you have old buildings, a beautiful river bank, forest on one side and prairies on the other.

Kayla and Devon said their I Do's on a beautiful summers day in July. The girls all got ready in the morning, they were so excited to get to the church and see Devon and the guys. They hosted their ceremony at one of my favorite churches in the province, Sacred Heart Cathedral in Prince Albert. The beauty and architecture is stunning. One of my favorite moments of that day happened right before the ceremony. Devon was sitting alone for a moment under the arches, just taking a breath before everything started. After a wonderful ceremony filled with laughter, joy and a couple of happy tears, we headed out to take photos.

During photos one of the groomsmen forgot his cigar, and we were totally doing a cigar shot. This groomsmen was super innovative, he happened to find a doll leg on the ground and asked " can you turn this into a cigar?" I laughed and told him of course I can. We all laughed so hard that he was pretending to smoke a doll leg.

Prince Albert has some of the coolest little locations. One I had been just waiting to shoot at for years is this little underpass that has these awesome little arches. Dave and I captured some fun and beautiful images of the bridal party. Following we headed out to this really cool park just north of the city. We played some fun games with the crew and helped get everyone really relaxed and out came the fun and goofy shots.

The groomsmen even ripped his parents

During the photos I always have my couples take a serious, a smile and a goofy photo with each member of their bridal party. During one of the goofy images one of the groomsmen might have jumped a little bit and split his pants wide open. As you can see this totally became our goofy image. But after all the fun and games we snuck away to capture a few shots on this amazing suspension bridge.

The reception was held at the Nordale Community Club. What a great hall, your surrounded by nature, the hall is really easy to decorate and is perfect for any couple that wants to get married. I loved their speeches and Dave and I had a blast capturing the hoping dance. Their dance floor was lit up by a gorgeous chandelier, roof draping, uplighting and beautiful LOVE letters. Such a fun wedding.
