The Glen -Lovestruck Portraits

Brittney and Connor wedding was one of my absolute favourites last year. It had the joy of working alongside one of my favourite wedding planners that day as well. They came out to Alberta in 2021 for their engagement photos in the mountains. I was obsessed her color palette, I absolutely love greens in weddings. After getting ready we started with their first look surrounded by their wedding party. We took photos at the old labatts garden, the river landing and the candy shoppe. Their wedding was held at the beautiful Glen at cross mount just outside of Saskatoon. At their dance they had all the. Married couples get up and dance and the longest married couple received a special gift from Brittney and Connor. Their day was absolutely perfect.

I could talk about their wedding all day but here is their story and wedding tips, told by them!!!

We met in December 2016 when my friend Katie was moving to the east coast and having a going away party & Connor's friend John was having a house warming party. They decided to combine the parties since there were many mutual friends. I was talking to Basit, who was friends with Connor. I kept saying that he looked like Mike from Suits. Basit told Connor that he should talk to me. After talking for a little while, John locked us in a room filled funko pops. We talked until I had to leave. That night, I added Connor on facebook AND messaged him first saying it was nice to meet him. We talked for a few days and then had our first date at Moxies on December 15th, 2016.

We have been together for 6 years.

We both love food so we go out to eat a lot. Some of our Regina favs include Milky Way, Luna, Victorias Tavern and Luiggis. We also like going to movies at the theatre and live shows like musicals when they come to town.

My favourite thing about Connor is that he sings when he is happy, but he changes all the words to be about me or our dog Loki.

He said his favourite thing about me “is that she enjoys going on adventures and makes me do things that I may not otherwise do, but that turn out great (like getting our dog).”

Here is our proposal story from our wedding website, written from both our POVs.

Connor: I was originally going to propose to her surrounded by penguins at a zoo since Britt is obsessed with penguins. In particular, one zoo had penguins that would paint pictures for you. Unfortunately, covid. So I improvised. I obtained a number of garden penguins to accompany Loki and I in proposing in the city that we love.

Britt: I was (annoyingly) bugging Connor a lot about proposing. I knew that he had planned to do it in summer of 2020, but that covid had ruined his plans. He had told me that it was supposed to happen when we were travelling somewhere but I had no others ideas. In January, my friend asked me to go take pictures at Wascana. I wanted to go to the mall instead, but she was persistent so I was SUS. I made sure I looked my best and was wearing this new green sweater that I liked just in case. Of course I said yes!!!

We love to travel and have been to 15 countries together so far. Our next trips include Disney world, Seattle (to see Taylor Swift!) and then the east coast of Canada for the wedding of my friend Katie (a big part of the reason we met!).

Our favourite part of the wedding day was definitely seeing so many of our friends and family all in once place together. I also loved being able to finally wear my dress and my cape veil that I had been so exited about.

Did you go on a honeymoon?

Yes, we went to Iceland! We rented a car and drove around the island stopping at numerous places. It was incredible.

How did you feel on your wedding day?

The morning was roughy for me due to my anxiety and jsut general excitement/nerves but the day turned out perfect. Everything went as planned (or else I didn’t hear about any issues! - we hired a good day of coordinator hah). We had amazing weather and we look back fondly on it being “the perfect day” that we envisioned.

Any advice for fellow brides out there?

Make sure that you put what you want first. Don’t let other people influence your decisions aside from you and your future spouse as that is who the day is about!
